HIP HOP UNIVERSITY

Born with body rock, nonstop energy
of an African, Nubian origin
Revolutionary rhetoric
through rhythm, rhyme, reason
rhythm, rhyme, reason.

We are storytellers of our Ancestral lineage
on the corners MCin.

Universal bein' breathin'
the reality of gory Ghetto life
So, we free ourselves through the mic.

B-boy, B-girl this is your world
As you twist, tic, lock and pop you unfurl
the power of the Universe.

Unrehearsed DJ Techniques speak
to the disenfranchised masses
As turntable sorcerers
"Make 'em, make 'em clap to this"

It's all magic
Creativity sporadic
Back spins and back flips
Check out the mix master's tactics!

The fabric of America, Africa, South America, Cuba,
the Caribbean, Haiti and Mexico painted on walls and trains
depicting struggle, sorrow, happiness, pain.

We carefully stain neighborhoods with culture
captivating hearts and minds
For so long, America was blind
to the reality of the inner-city.

So to a back drop of a beatbox
She was introduced to city blocks
full of drugs, guns, gangs, fights and crooked cops.

In Kangols, puma suits
and Adidas with fat laces
The world came to see our faces,
our triumphs, our embraces.

Droppin' knowledge over instrumentation
about the nation, Ronald Reagan inflation,
Middle East invasions and American global domination.

Muslim influenced 5% alphabets and mathematics
created consciousness, direction, understanding
Once the science is dropped, it is commanding.

With fat gold ropes hanging from our necks
demanding respect
We began a Universal Movement through a shared
dialect.

We started cashing checks and pushing a Lex
as Capitalism caught on.

The MTV MC backed by Fab 5 Freddy
The MTV MC backed by Fab 5 Freddy
The MTV MC backed by Fab 5 Freddy

proved to be a combination that prepared the world for
the Revolution of Hip Hop.
